The picture to the left, an actual grabbed image from BlueScreen's F/Xtap® installed on a VistaVision® camera, was shot as a sixty foot long forced perspective multi-layered motion control move in Griffith Park (the jungle background and the running woman) and several days later on stage against a bluescreen (the five foot tall ape, foreground foliage and props).
The fully composited image as shown was available on stage to everyone at all times as the move was set up and rehearsed.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the jungle, Disney resurrects the big ape.
For their first big feature since being acquired by Disney, Dreamquest Images and Visual Effects Supervisor Hoyt Yeatman needed to test many elements of the proposed effects package, including multi-layered mattes coupled to motion control moves. |
